Sometimes one of our Rottweilers would get up in bed and they are definite bed hogs. They would squirm around until their back was against one of us and their feet against the other, then as they slept, they’d push. Nearly got pushed into the floor once. Then, to add insult to injury metaphorically speaking, they’d snore. Snore like a drunken soldier with a broken nose…oh wait! I just described myself…
Most dogs just want to cuddle with their packs when they sleep. Mine is always touching me when I sleep – generally once I am asleep, she moves down to my feet and I often wake up with her head over my ankle. That used to wake me up often when I had a broken ankle. My theory is I want to know where my dog is at night just in case there is a need to go outside, but during the 5 years I have had this dog, she never has awakened me to go outside.
Yes. It’s a beautiful summer morning here, calm and quiet. Perfect for gathering thoughts and enjoying the solitude. My dog is curled up in the chair beside me. He begins to snore. The spell is broken.
Our previous dogs were outside dogs, so we never let them sleep on the bed, and when we do let them in the house, we usually just let them stay in a closed-off area surrounding the laundry room.

Mine sleeps on my pillow. I can feel her breath on my bald head. Everything is suddenly allright with the world.
