There seems to have been lots of coverage of this nonsense and lots of people who followed it. Without the latter I’m not sure the former happens. But I’m not sure why stuff like this captures the attention of so many people. Distraction, maybe? People are weird :P
I know this isn’t the politically correct thing to say, but I can tell you from personal experience – women can be abusive also. In this case, seems like they took turns going after each other.
Abuse is committed by and inflicted upon both genders. Even if y’all don’t give a hoot about dirty laundry being waved around in public and folks trying to get y’all to rally around one, the other, or both dirty laundry flags, don’t y’all ever forget that abuse is a crime committed by any gender or leaning, and never forget that suffering abuse isn’t limited either.
The big picture for some of y’all that like to crayon outside of the lines is that abuse has got to stop no matter who, no matter what.
Mr. Depp made one movie that barely rose above the level of banal mediocrity and suddenly everything he does is "noteworthy? I don’t think so!
Moreover, his personal life has no bearing on his skill as an actor and vice versa. We’ve had plenty of actors and actresses whose personal lives were the antithesis of their public lives and only a small minority ever cared. I don’t care. No one should care! Are we REALLY this petty? I would hope not.
If Mr. Depp was abusive, he should be charged with abuse and the victim should have justice served – it’s as simple as that – It has nothing to do with Depp’s societal position nor does it relate at all to the victim’s societal position – even in the time of the slave/master, the “masters” could be charged for excessive abuse – but the real bottom line is that America has MANY more pressing issues they should be dealing with, not this pathetically minor squabble!
Both sides can be abusive and can lie. The courts have a difficult time winnowing the truth from the lies and spin. Gender equality does not equate to one gender always being the victim and the other being the perpetrator/instigator.
I read his response to his accountants when they did their fiduciary duty and warned him he’d blown through almost $600 million and needed to slow down. It was wild — he accused them of canceling Christmas. It’s a fun read and a peek into deeply crazy. Sadly, Depp is delusional and winning this case makes it much less likely he’ll get the help he needs. I wonder how many of his “friends” will stick around once the spigot is cut off.
A few years ago, a recording came out that was purportedly Heard saying she could do what she wanted to because nobody would believe Depp due to their respective genders.
It was this recording that led to everyone re-evaluating what was going on, and ultimately paved the way for Depp’s lawsuit.
The case itself was practically a farce for how badly Heard’s legal team were handling it, and so it should have been no surprise that Depp eventually won, albeit a much smaller amount than what he’d pushed for.
Too true. They are being derisively called “Deppford Wives” in certain online circles, as though they are personally required to ensure Depp is exonerated from his ex writing an op-ed where she failed to name him directly, and did not refer directly to their relationship.
Ah well, he’ll always be a “wife beater” in the UK, at least….

Jury should have ruled that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard deserve each other and neither one gets awarded any money.

Got anything else to draw about, Steve? Other than “celebrity” court cases? Pretty boring.

There’s a solution to some of these problems. It’s so obvious. Why didn’t anyone think of it sooner?
