Since all the comments here have exhausted the idea that there’s a touch of kink in his statement, I’ll take a different approach. This reminded me of a story of the Golden Age Batman, “The Autobiography of Bruce Wayne,” originally published by DC in 1983 and reprinted in The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told. In that tale, he’s also with Catwoman, and he also has a problem — very briefly — when it comes time to take off the mask. Old habits die hard.
