I still get my newspaper delivered daily and got a notice that because of the price of gas, they are going to add a five-dollar charge to my monthly bill.
I did something similar many years ago. My co-worker and I were returning from a business trip to Washington DC when there were shuttle flights to and from NYC run by several airlines. You didn’t buy a ticket, you just got on and found a seat and someone would collect the fee afterward, like on a train or bus. So we put our luggage on the conveyer belt for the flight to JFK and waited for the boarding announcement, expected in about an hour. In about ten minutes we heard an announcement that a different airline was boarding now for Newark, NJ. Our luggage had already been moved so we just headed for the Newark flight and got on. It arrived in plenty of extra time for us to rent a car and drive to JFK, pick up our luggage and drive home. Of course, you could never do that in today’s world of high security!

We stopped getting a paper when they went to one a week and still charged the same price as before.
That was before all this inflation happened.
