It used to bug my wife that I would make allowances for a young female friend. Like when we would hike up a cliff, I would stop and wait for the young “Lord Help Us” to catch up, while my wife when on ahead. I had to explain to my wife, who hiked regularly, that I simply expected more of her, because I treated her as an equal.
