Interestingly precisely this happened here in Indianapolis. The Do-Nut Shop folded after the owner died in the summer of ’21, and no one stepped up to take over. The small shop, which could seat only about 25 or 30, was in business for many years. They served breakfast and dinner (dinner is southern-speak for lunch), and they made their own scratch do-nuts (or doughnuts). The baking staff started at about 3 AM, and they made a score of different varieties daily. (Whew!)
