Neither one is worth the water to down ’em in a shallow bowl. But Robert E. lat least is already long gone, and bright enough to be a tolerable general.

A violent attempt to overthrow the government is the definition of Treason.

As is giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Especially when you do it in the Oval Office.

General Lee, reprehensible in so many ways, even had the sense to admit what he did was wrong and that no statues should ever be created to commemorate the traitorous Confederacy.

The Salt Lake Tribune, hardly a bastion of liberalism, published an editorial: “It is past time for Mike Lee to start fessing up to all he knows about the plot to set aside the results of an honest and fair election to keep Donald Trump in power…“It is time Mike Lee told the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth,” the editorial concluded. “To his constituents. To the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 uprising. And to history.” The entire editorial can be found here: https://www.sltrib.com/opinion/editorial/2022/04/19/saturdays-utah-state/

So they dance about the periphery of the coup, carefully tending their MAGA bona fides, while keeping their hands just clean enough to stay out of jail. But then again, just maybe . . . what is it that is said about the prosperity of treason?

A true patriot would have rejected the Tangerine Mussolini’s advances unequivocally and absolutely . . . like them there McConnell and McCarthy guys did right after 1/6!

Oh yeah! I guess Rob Reiner is actually right about far too many Republicans . . .

Jennifer Rubin also devoted a good column to the vile Sen. Lee:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/04/21/mike-lee-is-hiding-from-questions-texts-jan-6-overthrow-election/

One paragraph struck me in particular. Note especially the part in parentheses.

“If Lee had acted ethically and in accordance with his oath, he should have no compunction about taking questions. Instead, the Tribune reports, “Approached by a Salt Lake Tribune reporter at the Summit County Republican Party Convention in Kamas, Lee staffers blocked access to the senator.” (Lee’s behavior is unacceptable, but so is that of aides, who are employed and paid by taxpayers. They are not Lee’s private security force.)”

Southern “culture” and history have always been based on cruelty, terrorism, treason, and the unspeakable trade in human flesh.
