I did. But I’m certainly not going to PAY to travel to the place where paid professionals whack a tiny little ball and put up with asshats yelling “In the HOLE!”. I thought he’d stick to non-play golfing. And this weekend seems to be pointing out that I was closer to right than some of the others…

No, it’s those who hoped he’d never play competitive golf again.

File this in the “another overpaid professional athlete who can’t stand being away from fawning adulation” category.

The real question is, will he ever win our even seriously compete again. He was on track to be the greatest to ever play the game and, like him or not, it’s a shame that personal issues derailed him. I must confess I am in that group of people who enjoyed watching him play.

From what I understand Tiger never said he was never going to play again, so what’s the big deal? That he’s playing well?

The cartoon shows the crowd size of the population who, never thought Mr. Woods would play again – this crowd is infinitesimal compared to the size of the crowd that DOESN’T CARE whether he ever plays again.

Watching “golf” ranks right up there with “Curling”, watching grass grow and paint drying. And it ranks also right up there with watching a “soccer” game (however, I must admit to enjoying European games where, out of the blue, a player falls on the grass, clutching his leg and claiming “foul” without ever being touched by a member of the opposing team – those histrionics are rather amusing.)

I grew up next to a golf course. It gave me a healthy disrespect for the game and its players.

Robin Williams did a great stand-up imagining the inventor of the game of golf being interviewed about how it’s played. Worth looking for.

I would hate to die and realize I spent a lot of time watching sports on TV. Not much of a life.
