Or maybe they don’t know how to switch off the feature. We rented a car in the US and spent the whole trip trying to find a way to switch that honking off. The answer was to take the car to a garage or something, as it was a rental we didn’t do it.
I always used to pull the door handle once I’d locked the door, just to make sure. Then I thought “I’ve been doing this for ten years. I’m pretty sure the door is locked this time too.”
I always disable the horn feature when I get a “new” car.
What to do to deactivate the horn honk feature:
Press both the lock and unlock buttons on your remote for two seconds.Watch for the hazard lights to flash three times.Lock the doors and confirm that the horn does not sound.
My GF would tap a horn confirmation she locked the car door. I never did, considered it rude. I just tap my Fit’s remote once and observe visual of the flashing park lights as enough

Would people use turn signals if they also honked the horn?

Our car just locks the doors automatically when you walk away from the car.

I’ve seen drivers get into a left turn or a right turn lane and THEN put on their turn signals. They just don’t understand.

Simple … push the lock button on the door as you get out, instead of waking the neighbours in the middle of the night.
