Covid closed ours. When other things were opening back up, code enforcement wanted too many upgrades & the industry was charging independent venues more to make up for a couple years of lost revenue.
I agree they’re cool, but from a business standpoint, it’s a horrible use of land. The same footprint would house a 24-screen complex that can run movies from 9 AM to 1 AM. There’s just no comparison between the two financially.

I for one, miss the old drive in theaters.. They played a big part of my younger days… Wish they would make a come back !!

We still have a twin drive in theater here. We also still have 2 roller skating rinks and a couple of bowling alleys.
