He really didn’t seem all that crazy† until recently. Age, pandemic, lack of useful feedback… What DOES cause sociopaths to succumb to megalomana?

† Evil, sure, but not all THAT crazy. IMO.

He’s always been crazy. Have you seen clips of those hockey matches where the professional players have to hold back and allow him to score, time and again to stoke his ego?

We may never know how many people he’s murdered. One thing for sure, he knows how to steal an election.

Putin is not crazy. He just wants to reassemble the Soviet Union before he steps down and return the glory to Mother Russia.

Putin is paranoid.

There is opposition slowly building within Russia to the invasion. I don’t really know how effective it can be in changing his mind.

Destroying infrastructure is not a good invasion tactic if you are planning on occupying a country. Because if you are going to hang around and take over, you will need all those items. However if all you are going to do is try to destabilize then go home, this is what you would do.

Prediction: The Russians will cause immense damage then go home. Lesson to neighbours, tow the line or we will kick the s—t out of you, (or try)
