The enemies of democracy— both internal and external — all work together to make it appear weak and divided

Ukraine would not be on the brink of invasion were it not for Paul Manafort and Donald Trump — Mark Sumner

American diplomatic cables and Ukrainian prosecutors say the anti-US, anti-NATO protests that threatened these Marines were largely partisan plants, organized by politicians who consulted with Paul Manafort, now the prominent campaign aide to presidential candidate Donald Trump.“Paul Manafort’s connections to Russia and Ukraine began in approximately late 2004 with the start of his work for Oleg Deripaska and other Russia-aligned oligarchs in Ukraine. … The Russian government coordinates with and directs Deripaska on many of his influence operations.”

The handoff from Manafort to Trump, when it comes to the ongoing injury to Ukraine, was a smooth one. As the Senate report described in 2020:“Manafort hired and worked increasingly closely with a Russian national, Konstantin Kilimnik. Kilimnik is a Russian intelligence officer. Kilimnik became an integral part of Manafort’s operations in Ukraine and Russia, serving as Manafort’s primary liaison to Deripaska and eventually managing Manafort’s office in Kyiv.”

And when it came to the Trump campaign:“Prior to joining the Trump Campaign in March 2016 and continuing throughout his time on the Campaign, Manafort directly and indirectly communicated with Kilimnik, Deripaska, and the pro-Russian oligarchs in Ukraine.”

I really hate to say this: the U.S. us just too weak, both Militarily and Diplomatically, to do much, if anything, against a gangster thug like Putin.

Putin came to ruling Russia by blowing up three occupied apartment buildings in Russia and blaming it on Georgian separatists. Then He told everyone that only he could fix things.

Putin just doesn’t care how much damage he creates, as long as he gets more power, and the Q-publicans will help him all they can.
