I’m getting nothing with a quick web search. I mean, in 2007, a judge ruled that a school couldn’t discipline a kid who used a lot of very nasty words at myspace… that kind of hits.
The social media platforms should be regulated utilities, and be held liable for their content. It’s pretty clear they are not neutral platforms. Not because they censor conservatives ( that’s just stupid talk), but because they moderate ALL content and therefore need to be held liable for what they permit to be on the platform.
The principal raisin d’etre for social media is to collect data on viewing habits so that each participant can be monetized. The result is a cesspool of commerce that ignores the deleterious effect their platforms have on a civil society.
The regressives like it this way because they have zero regard for fact. If they had to deal with lawsuits originating from the content, there would be wholesale changes that would reverberate positively through their audiences.
These platforms already edit content. But they do it in an ad hoc manner because Section 230 of the Telecommunications Act says they are like electric or sewer lines—that is, mere conduits. This is obviously not true and needs to be corrected legislatively.
MySpace and Facebook actually talked merger/purchase. If they had done that and then bought Instagram, WhatsApp and all the rest, we’d still be here. Get it through your head, Ramirez, it is CONCENTRATION OF MONOPOLY POWER that is the problem. Sheesh.https://www.businessinsider.com/2009/1/myspace-passed-on-buying-facebook-for-75-million#:~:text=According%20to%20a%20new%20book,Chris%20said%20no.
All the government does is help the MSM brainwash those who watch it, using Hitlers man Goebels propaganda bible. Tell a big lie and repeat it over and over till the truth becomes a lie and the lie becomes the truth. Trumps cult bought in to it hook, line and sinker.
Speech is only free on social media as long as social media has advertisers to pay for the cyberspace; otherwise, we all would be paying those social media companies to post stuff online. Welcome to Capitalism where they want the perception of “freedom” but it’s all regulated for a price.

This says a lot Mike. You recognize the freedom to misinform that you have now and don’t want it to go away.

Social media does not need government regulation….and should have its government protection rescinded.

Odd how republicans used to carry a copy in their pocket, now they’re not going let it interfere with their naked power grab.
