Bob Dole was a hero and a great Republican. He was not like the commie John McCain.

Bob Dole was a decent human being. But he was a hard-core, immovable, partisan conservative who was rightfully, decisively, and thankfully rejected by Americans outside benighted Kansas.

Dole was dissed because he was the one who originally came up with the ACA. That put him on the outs with Repuglicans.

If Bob Dole made his speech today about that you have to work with the other side and compromise he would be Tared and Feathered by Fox News and thrown out of the Republican Party

It’s just a question of class: see how differently Obama and Trump treated Bob and Elizabeth Dole

Bob Dole was a Trumper, but he also said in July that he was “trumped out.” Neither statement is disgusting or vile—just factual. Disgusting and vile are the racist personal attacks that Donald Trump made fashionable in the GOP and carried out each week by the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene, Madison Cawthorne, and Lauren Boebert. I haven’t heard any complaining about that, though.

Speaking of vile, this is literally how Donald J. Trump responded to another Republican icon’s death, Colin Powell:

“Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media,” Trump said in a statement released Tuesday morning. “Hope that happens to me someday. He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to attack other Republicans. He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace!”

Donald J. Trump is the definition of a classless oaf. If you want to see a night and day difference between Trump and an actual class act,

Gary, that is a far kinder cartoon than I thought you would draw. I actually thought you would avoid it. Good one.

Bob Dole was the last Republican presidential candidate that I seriously considered voting for.

    W? Don’t make me gag.

McCain? A good man and a moderate by today’s standards, but paled compared to Barak Obama and shot himself in the foot by picking Caribou Barbie as his VP.

Mitt the Twit? Would have been W on steroids.

The orange blowhard? I would sooner vote for Benito Mussolini. At least Mussolini had an idea of how government worked.

Back in the day, I had a virulent dislike for Dole; he seemed too mean. Compared to most present day rethugs, though…

Ironically, Varvel made a powerful statement about the GOP. As he rides into the sunset, the elephant is going with him. All that’s left is the excrement known as trumpism.

Great ‘toon and a very nice tribute to Senator Dole who served this country honorably as both a soldier and a politician.

Bill had snake oil slick charm. Bob had a lagging campaign and someone gave him a prescription for Viagra. He disappeared for the last two months of his campaign and then guest starred on Johnny Carson with a big smile. At least, he won his home state, unlike some other presidential losses.
