I don’t think it’s the lack of service. More likely to be the lack of an atmosphere and extreme temperatures which have probably destroyed the battery and electronics.
Even if you did have service, how would you use that phone through the helmet and the lack of atmosphere. You wouldn’t hear a thing. Neither would the person you are talking to.
