I usually vote for the best person if there is one, otherwise (usually) it’s a process of eliminating the ones I can’t stand. Ballot measures, though, I do the research and vote the best I can to assist my community and state.
And Facebook is, willy nilly, part of that decision process: I see how my friends feel and pay attention to their arguments. I do NOT pay attention to what anonymous ad writers and the like have to say. Duckduckgo is my friend in this process: I CHECK OUT THE CLAIMS.
I check Facebook once a week to see if any of my extended family has posted any pictures of them or their kids.
I’ve developed a case of “Internet Blindness” which means I can home in on the content I want to find and don’t even see the ads or other postings.
I do use the internet to search out information I want. I am aware of what sources emerge and what their slants are. I do NOT accept what the bots serve up to me.
BOTs are like people who are being tortured. They don’t tell you what you need to know they tell you what they think you want to hear. So they give you news articles that are similar to the ones you have been reading in hopes that they will please you and while you are in a good mood, buy what they are advertising.
For this reason, I deliberately search out Fox News, AT&T / One America Network and Newsmax. (Just mentioning them in this post will alert the bots). For one thing, it is always wise to know your enemy. It is important to me to see the propaganda the right is being fed. Also, this confuses the bots and they don’t serve me a steady diet of leftist news.
While I am on BOTs. I am almost certain that the FBI is investigating me. I am doing a lot of research on the KKK and Nazi Germany. This makes a lot of far-right, hate sites come up in my browsing history – Once again, know your enemy.
Facebook is for pictures of children and relatives who don’t live nearby. Foliage and special moonlight, hail and sunshine and all beautiful and clever things. Just quickly delete everything else and after a while they might wise up. We can always hope.

For many, Facebook has usurped both human conscience and common sense!

I research the candidates and issues and vote for those that are best for the position or issue.
Facebook is for staying in touch with family and personal, nonpolitical interests. Nothing on FB is taken as fact.

I will vote my conscience despite some of the lying political cartoons I see.

I suppose using Face Book to make political choices is no worse than using a Magic 8-Ball to make investment or health care decisions.

Time to shut down FB until the company takes measurable steps to clean up the right-wing populist lying……………right-wing populists?:
