Too bad that coal has no real cost advantages in energy production any longer as the [actually] clean, numerous, renewable sources do.

’’Entitlement’’ is just one of those dog-whistle words/phrases.

When a family asks for food stamps, they’re beggars. When some defense contractor wants a ‘’make work’’ contract, they are marvelous fellows, upstanding members of the community.

A ‘’make work’’ contract, is exactly what it sounds like. And they do exist. In every part of the Fed and State govt.

Nice one, Matt. Just another reminder for us to question if Manchin knows who he is supposed to be trying to help improve their lives. I don’t believe that a DINO does.

The coal mines are going to close. They have been closing for decades. And, the guy who went to work in one right out of high school in 1990 is unlikely to qualify for one of the new clean energy jobs that will replace those jobs. However, we first knew that the coal mines were not an option with a bright future around 1960, so he, and most certainly his kids, should have grown up knowing that they would need to find other jobs, and the clean energy industry will be gaining jobs they can aim for. Coal miners being thrown out of jobs they expected to sustain their families isn’t a real thing going on. It’s just right wing propaganda.

The way our system “works”, all those coal workers who got saddled with chronic health problems from working their lives in the industry are also entitled to have the parent company sell off their benefits package to a separate company, which will declare bankruptcy from “too much debt” and screw them all over by refusing to pay for any more medical expenses. https://www.fastcompany.com/90381145/coal-companies-are-going-bankrupt-what-happens-to-the-pensions-theyve-promised-miners
