You mean to tell me that the only missing people aren’t Caucasian and blond? Now you’re going to tell me that white privilege really is a thing. How can that be? I almost never see anything on the news other than another Caucasian blond is missing.
Of course the alerts I get on my phone because I signed up for a missing persons locator show people of many colord too. Far more than CB’s.
Gee, maybe if they too were treated as a priority… Or their abductions and murders were acknowledged…
in 2016 there were 5,712 cases of MMIWG reported. only 116 were logged into the DOJ database. these numbers are only for the U.S. Canada has huge numbers of this group as well. forget help if you aren’t a young, white blonde woman.
That an attractive white woman (now dead) was more in the news than the myriad missing women who have not been is much more about what kind of news segment draws eyeballs from folks that advertisers want to reach than it is about anything else. Is that wrong, or just another example of how the world is imperfect? It would be good if a movement akin to BLM arose (MMIW is trying to be that) to both publicize the problem and do something to make it better! I don’t have much hope for anything both fast and good.
I’m really sorry that Gabby was found dead. However, I do wish that all women—whatever their age or ethnicity—who disappear under suspicious circumstances, could get the same response from law enforcement and the media as Gabby did.
KE entirely misses the point, and proceeds to post one of the most offensive comments I’ve ever seen on this forum. Flagged, of course. Hey moderators, can you please vanish this pig for good?

Intense and deeply moving. Another great example of how the power of art is able to impact how we think and feel. Thank you.
