Before the Iraq invasion a retired US Air Force officer who had bought a plane from me and knew I had been in the general area asked what I thought would happen if we invaded. My answer was easy, that we’d win the war and lose the peace, giving what was already happening in Afghanistan as an example of why I thought that. When he asked why I said 2 simple reasons. 1 – The people in charge here have unrealistic expectations of what will happen afterwards because they have no understanding of how things work there. Both are artificial countries cobbled together by colonial powers, composed of very different groups of people with a Tribal mentality. 2 – In answer to his question of how to ‘fix’ that I said it would take a modern education from birth for at least 3 generations, and we weren’t going to do that. I wish I had been wrong.
It was well planned by “W” and his administration. The Saudi’s attacked us so we attacked Iran to get Saddam under false pretenses, and then got into Afghanistan. And we still haven’t held the Saudis accountable.

Umm. Not convincing me. Those two had so MUCH politics and so little… reality behind the reasons to go there.

I would like to see the planning that went into those invasions.

Fear not.. there will be an excuse to go back to that area soon enough. Got to justify the expense of the military somehow.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. That is the lie that caused this mess in the first place.
