Aug 29, 2021 · Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, in remarks Saturday, said that people in the state were “less scared” of COVID-19 because they believe in “eternal life,” as new infections reach record levels …
Well, the anti-vaxxers at least recognize the danger of COVID. Otherwise they wouldn’t be so enamored of the snake oil “cures” and preventatives (ivermectin is merely the latest example). What is so hard to understand is why they abjure from masks and vaccination, steps that are easy, cheap, effective, and reasonable. The Indy Star reported that vaccination rates in Indiana are correlative to education level; those without a high school diploma (14% of the states population) are far less likely to be vaccinated than those with more education. The same relationship persists through different education levels, the more education the more vaccination. And the correlation obtains in other states, too. Further, the initial concerns for race being the main condition which influenced vaccination hesitancy haven’t proved out. Lack of education is the main condition, perhaps the sole condition.
Alt-right coworkers are back to blaming both issues (COVID vaccinations and hurricanes) upon liberals again (to them, liberals are anybody who says something they don’t like hearing)… they continue to cling to whatever stories they can find that make them feel better about themselves, despite evidence and logic.
