The problems with representative democracy are two (major ones):
1: You get people in charge who are good at getting elected, which has very little correlation with ability to do the real job.
2: If you ever have a crisis, when seconds count, a legislature cannot possibly do anything useful AND fast enough. (And even the governor, being a political creature, has a hard time making a decision).
Kentucky has a Democratic governor who would very much like to deal forcefully with the explosion of new Delta cases in his state. The GOP legislature recently stripped the governor of most emergency powers that he had. Now, with disaster at hand, the ball is in the Republican’s court. Anyone care to guess the outcome?
A working government where the executive doesn’t overreach, the legislature forges a consensus, the judiciary is bored and the media doesn’t make everything a new apocalypse. Darn, there goes the alarm.

The Republican supermajority legislature in Indiana stripped the Republican governor (Eric Holcomb) of most emergency powers.

Every bought a shiny red apple? Taken a bite only to find the whole inside was totally rotten? We better be more aware of what is really going on.

Keep the ball bouncing while Americans die of right wing ignorance and stubbornness.
