Washington is my favorite for ‘Best President’ for many reasons, foremost being he didn’t have a blueprint to go by. But he did, at minimum, stretch the truth at times. Nathan Hale never actually said ‘I only regret, that I have but one life to lose for my country.’ But Washington read it as fact to his officers and then to his Army. Chalk it up to motivational speaking.
