Fox News ripped by CNN’s Jim Acosta for dangerously ‘peddling lies for profit’
“No doubt about it, over on Fox this week, it got a little nuts,” he said, playing a clip of Tucker Carlson’s weeklong obsession with the debunked report that coronavirus vaccines caused swollen testicles of Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friend.
Acosta referred to Carlson as “such a sad sack.”
“Don’t forget they have tough vaccine rules over at Fox News,” he reminded. “Over 90% of its employees are vaccinated.”
“If only reliable, trustworthy information about this pandemic could reach everybody. instead, some big-name voices on the far-right are peddling lies for profit. The same thing is happening to our democracy. The big lie is still with us,” he noted.
“If only the people could get the truth and not have to fight through so much disinformation,” Acosta said. “You could say on this day we live in one reality, the one where disinformation kills and keeps killing.”
Nick Michaelson is the CEO of Silver Fox (in the UK), which makes labeling products.
Nick van der Leek is a noted and prolific True Crime author, including the “Silver Fox” series.
Neither of these Nicks looks anything like the character above, though. I agree that this SEEMS to be a reference to a particular person, but I’m mystified as to who it is. Maybe just a friend of Stantis’s?
Generically, “silver fox” can refer to any handsome man* (celebrity or otherwise) who remains handsome (or gets moreso) when his hair gets grey (or white). Cary Grant in his later years qualified, as did John Forsythe (Blake Carrington was an epitome of the type); current celebs in the category include George Clooney, John Slattery (I’ve only ever known him with white hair; he was in his 40’s when he played Roger Sterling, but his hair apparently has been white since his 20’s), and even Steve Carell.
*It is less often applied to women, but it’s not unknown. “Silver vixen” is also a thing, but it’s a bit clunky to my ear.
