As a rule, cats don’t pay much attention to sounds coming out of speakers. However, years later, when I played video clips of our walks in the redwoods, my cat Kirby immediately reacted to the characteristic bird sounds and became highly interested.
Cats generally ignore phones. Big exception: had a phone whose ringer was a rather high-pitched tweet. Kitty smacked it when it rang. He acted like it was a bird.

She was taught to answer the phone. Looking up addresses wasn’t on the curriculum.

My mom would call me at work to tell me the phone at home was off the hook. I had a cat who loved to answer the phone.

Pippi’s mom is not too bright if she’s asking Pippi to do something cats are unable to do.

Pippi is a cat, not a secretary.
