You need at least three compasses. If you have one and it’s off you won’t know it. If you have two and one’s off you won’t know which. With three you can go between the two that most closely agree.

Ohhhh, that was a flashback! The last two weeks finally make sense.

And that concludes this retcon. Now we have another nerd character obsessed with Star Wars… Maybe it wasn’t worth it.

If you are lost a compass will do you no good unless you have at least some idea of where you are. So, you know which way is north. But in what direction is the place to which want to go? A compass won’t tell you that.

I’m guessing they still haven’t paid attention in survival class. A compass isn’t any good unless you have a reasonable idea of which direction to go.
