What’s with “Shark week”?

Shark week on certain network(s). I know several legislators I would like attacked by sharks. Figuratively.

“We’re gonna need a bigger SCOTUS!”

Too apropos. Just when you thought it was safe to get back into the voting booth.

No longer — since LBJ — can we expect “Republicans” to defend our constitutional quas-democratic republic in their there-can-be-only-one-party effort to devour the “Democrat” party.

So let’s get Quint, Brody, and Hooper to pass the voting rights legislation in the Senate.

The Southern District of New York would be a killer whale eyeballing the former guy and his business.

Why should “they” be allowed to vote when they never vote the straight Klan ticket?

A couple of days ago I posted about the way voting registration works in Canada. Very briefly, the government keeps a National Register of Electors, and it keeps it updated regularly. “We continually update the Register from a range of sources, including the Canada Revenue Agency; Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (new citizens); provincial and territorial drivers licence and vital statistics agencies; and information supplied by electors when they register to vote or update their registration. These sources of information allow Elections Canada to: add eligible electors to the Register; identify people who may be eligible to register.update registered electors’ records to reflect deaths and address changes….Elections Canada mails voter registration notification letters to people who may be eligible to vote but who are not registered. We mail these letters a few times a year, mostly outside election periods, to invite people to register.” And so on. I invite anyone interested to look at the link for further information, but you get the idea. The Canadian goverment wants people to vote, it encourages people to vote, it make it easy for people to vote. This is not hard, my friends. If you want it.

Consent of the governed is a hard idea to put back in the bottle once its gotten loose.

Let’s make sure what happened to the shark in the end also happens to the GOP.
