I don’t think that my cats can count to ten…but they do know if one of them gets an extra treat.

Cats use their hypnotic powers for defensive purposes – the “do not disturb” suggestion is strong in this species.
Dad would hypnotize the family cat with an unopened can of tuna. Kitty always knew what was in the can without opening it.
Well, that certainly backfired.
