I had a moment of wondering why today’s kids would want to see a 1995 Kevin Costner film.

They are gone in the last panel, but you cannot tell where they went. They should be shown inside, playing video games.

The empanadas aren’t free; you have to “pay” Tía with effusive praise! :)

Here in New Braunfels, Texas, home of The Schlitterbahn water park, locals buy season tickets and return as often as they want. It’s the tourists that pay full price for a single visit.

When I was a kid my mom would take us to a township owned beach. Terrible – skin burned from sun, skin burned from salt in water.

But on Wednesdays! We would go food shopping and to the library. I would return the books I took out the week before and take out as many new ones as I could. The library would have a summer reading program – one was suppose to read either 10 or 12 books (forget which) over the summer. By the third trip to the library I would be finished, some years the by the second trip. I would then end up arguing with the librarian. There were spots to fill in for fiction and spots to fill in for non-fiction books. I always read almost all non-fiction and would argue that they were better and more important than fiction as one learns from non-fiction. (Biographies were a particular favorite.)

Once I got into college I went to same during the summer also. finished a year early. Just because it is hot is no reason to waste the time.
