    When I was a kid at summer camp, we used to pick snapping turtles up by their tails and hold them away from our body. They would try and bite you, but couldn’t.

    You’d think it safe to pick one up with its head facing AWAY from you, but the wily critter has another defense mechanism at the tail end…

    When I lived at an apartment complex, every year a turtle would lay her eggs in barren areas. The resident manager would block off the area to keep people and animals from disturbing the eggs.

    Those snapping turtles have long necks and move pretty fast.
