One more thing-stop using cops to investigate other cops wrongdoing. You will never learn the facts that way.

Weeding the bullies out the police department and putting in a psychological test for their replacements is the only way to accomplish this. My brother in law was a cop in a small Texas town. He was a bully in high school to the point of exhibiting psychological issues in the stuff that he did, and he was able to turn that hobby into a profession by joining the local police department, where his activities didn’t even draw unfavorable attention. Our police should be carefully chosen, required to wear cameras, and any complaints should be reviewed by a citizen’s committee, elected by the citizens of the community. I can assure you he would have never been a cop, because he would never have applied for the job under those rules. I said he was evil, I didn’t say he was stupid.

You mean that having a badge doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want to do?

Seeing the story and video footage of Ronald Greene’s death at the hands of Louisiana’s State troopers will likely bring the next stage of BLM Floyd-like protests.

lets do this comparison. In the US, candidates spend eighteen months in basic training in order to become a police officer, followed by a six-month evaluation period. Advanced police school courses last two years, and require one to have been a police officer for at least two years.

In Norway, police officer training is a three-year bachelor’s degree, where the first and third year take place at the college and the second year is on-the-ground training in police districts.

In the UK, between three weeks and three monthsThe application process typically involves an application form, online tests, an interview and assessment centre. You’ll also have to demonstrate your fitness and pass a medical test. Successful applicants will then undergo a training programme lasting between three weeks and three months.

And in Germany, Most police recruits spend about two and a half years in the regular police academy training (Mittlerer Polizeivollzugsdienst). The auxiliary police forces, with fewer powers and often not equipped with a duty-weapon, are trained in just 12 weeks.

The only thing that is glaring here is the UK has no guns but we all know that the black market and criminals and people with agenda find means to provide guns. The US is high on the list for gun violence. Education and empathy and understanding are the first stepping stones of making a better chance. I’m not holding my breath right now. And with the pandemic still raging around the world, Mother Earth is still culling the herd. Be safe and well as you can everyone.

A big part of the problem is not the “bad cops” but the ones who are not “bad” but don’t object to bad behaviour.
