The kids just learned a valuable lesson if you ask me (and I know you didn’t). Don’t approach a dog in a car even if it looks friendly. They are protecting their territory.
I was very young when my mother warned me not to go near a dog in a car. Even the nicest dog may try to protect the car. And you don’t want to upset a dog like Buckles.

Let me repeat yesterday’s warning…
Never leave your dog in a car in a parking lot, or anywhere else, with the windows up, even if it is winter.
