@Linguist Apart from being a repeat ,today’s strip is slightly funny Flo and Ruby gossiping about Frank’s agression could raise a smile , but our HERO Mr Andrew Capp has slept in and didn’t bother to show up in his own strip :o) my avatar is a scary statement of five deadly words that should send terror in any man’s heart, it does for me , how about you? , comment avez vous passe votre Samedi mon moins vieux ami? our day should be busy but calm I hope we have no errands to run , both in a good mood and expecting no visits , keep safe and a bientot pal

Poor Snidey “Stiffneck” Smith!

I hope Frank used some deodorant if he had to keep Snidey in a headlock that long. Otherwise, the B.O. could be worse than the bopping.

So “bopped” means hit or punched? Fought with? Around these parts it means a couple of things, not the least of which is “had sex with.” Also years ago meant “danced with.”

Parsing today’s dialogue, I have to give a tip ’o the Andy cap to the writer for setting up the gag. In a few words, we can imagine poor Frank as a harrassed little guy behind a desk who has had enough of the nasty, loudmouth salesman, Snidey Smith. The word picture is worthy if the Master.

With a name like Snidey, he probably had it coming to him.
