I once read stories out of an original Grimm’s book. I was really sweating out those on the fly changes to the text that I had to do. I didn’t read from that ever again. No kid needs to try sleeping with that carnage in their minds.
I recall my daughter reacting to the witch giving Snow White the poison apple. I could have soft peddled it more if I had known the effect. On the other hand, it’s kind of wonderful to be so impressed by a stupid story. Or feeling the need to comment on a comic strip.

The cartoons that were my childhood fables had a lot of violence but the mouse or bird rarely stayed eaten.
