Fascism: Asking people to wear masks to slow a pandemic is fascist, but arresting or killing POC and terrorizing voters is not?
Socialism: is anyone suggesting the community control the means of production, distribution and exchange? No.
Communism: Is anyone advocating a class war leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs? No. In fact, if you believe the right, the democrats are suggesting paying everyone for doing nothing. Make up your minds.
Green New Deal: Yes, god forbid we work to save the planet. And at what cost? More jobs, cleaner air and water, a healthier planet. But, what about the oil industry? We will always need petroleum for some things, they just don’t get to be the world-controlling, war starting monopoly anymore. Boo-hoo.
Identity Politics: Really? I mean really? The party of us against them has the cajones to bring up identity politics? They literally have no other platform than: be scared of the other, they are coming for your stuff. Xenophobia and nationalism are identity politics, not equal rights for all.
Wow Gary, great one illustrating so much of what is wrong with the Democrat left while using the virus as a political tool to maintain control of the populace. At least in blue states.
I think that a lot of working-class people who support Republicans do so because while not rich, they hope one day to become rich. They think that by supporting conservatives, they are acting in their future self-interest. Yet in many cases, their hope of doing so lies in winning the Lottery.
On the other hand, the current “socialist” policies of the democrats offer (at least young) working class with more opportunities for building wealth than do the tired nostrums of yesteryear. For example, the green new deal would open up all kinds of opportunities for people to start new businesses like becoming a rooftop solar installer. An industry like this would be decentralized and open to a large number of entrepreneurs. Further, the skills needed could be learned in a two year college or trade school, the tuition for which could be free.
Medicare for All is socialist. Public schools, roads, mail service, etc are socialist. Anything the government does to serve the people is socialist. Socialism is a scary word for Republicans. It is necessary for Republicans to use scary words to convince their base that they should remain loyal, because if they actually understood that they are voting against their own best interests they wouldn’t be Republicans. They have been taught that socialism is scary. 1%er owned news outlets have been telling them so for about 40 years now. So, if they are told someone is socialist, they don’t educate themselves to find out exactly what they are supposed to be afraid of. It’s a pretty shaky system and it’s amazing that people have fallen for it long enough for the country be in the condition it is, but they have.
Hey, that’s not Trumps face in the fascist germ, and do you notice that moron MAGA Varvel is more worried about socialism than he is about FASCISM, how did these folks get so divorced from reality and common sense?
