People aren’t the only slobs. Every critter pretty much leaves whatever they’re done with right where they’re done with it. The difference is that there are so many more people … and they have so much more stuff that they get done with. And of course, an awful lot of that stuff stays around far too long and gets itself stuck in all kinds of problematic places. Bottom line: Too damn many people. Not that I’m volunteering to help with that…
PS: Yes, many animals (birds, pigs, cats, apes) do avoid pooping where they eat, but I’m not talking about that part.
What is truly terrifying is that there is so little self-respect and common sense that people would deliberately foul their own habitat and not care about the effects.
Look at the bright side.. kept a whole bunch of people employed with the.. design.. sourcing materials.. making the product.. delivery..then the placing.. and now the disposal which will involve more people. Literally (possibly?) thousands of people could have had a small part in such a small thing. It’s things like this that make America strong and prosperous.
I volunteer to clean and maintain a park that is owned by a private charitable organization. It irks me to have to pick up litter that is within a foot of a trash can… irks me more that people assume that the city owns the park so they can abuse it however they please…
So plastic materials, wasted foods, toxic waste is being replaced by masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer that was used to combat a pandemic? I’m confused by the Earth Day message here.
I’m retired and walk 5 miles a day. Those miles, no matter where I walk, are strewn with masks, cups, fast food trash, you name it, Americans are inconsiderate trashy people. How hard is it to throw on the floor of a vehicle and taken in to the trash can at home.

I don’t remember nearly that many masks at Earth Day events of the past.

At least most of the wasted food that would have been littered has more chance of staying in the trash cans of someone’s house rather than the park…

A technologically advanced species needs to be morally advanced as well. We’ve got one, but not the other.

The things animals leave behind are beneficial to the environment.
