To quote Mark Twain: “The older I get, the more clearly I remember things that never happened.”

When Tia Carmen was a kid, they had TV and (basic) computers and telephones, stereos, and telex machines — and they had adults grousing about how kids never used their imaginations anymore because they were always glued to the boob tube.

I heard once that most of our memories are fiction and things simply didn’t happen the way we remember them.

I know I’ve watched movies and TV shows that I saw as a kid and there are scenes that turned out to be totally different from my memory of them.

In semi-literate societies some claimed that writing made you stupid. If you didn’t write your memory was a finely honed tool. If you wrote you created post-it notes, that you were continually losing and couldn’t remember anything.

Tia Carmen probably gave Dorros the idea for the book “Abuela” by Arthur Dorros

Cool memory. I would have needed a kite as big as the Hindenburg to have done that to me…..

Memories are better than photographs, because then the fish can be as big as it needs to be. ;-)
