Give us your poor, your tired, those yearning to be free….We needed everyone then. We only need the smart young hard working immigrants now. There could be more room if we could deport some politicians though.Especially the ones that don’t like immigrants.
I’m far more open to open immigration than most. What we need, however, is a mechanism for processing them quickly. And minors need a place to go because you can’t simply send them off into the blue.
Republicans had eight years under Reagan, four years under Bush1, eight years under Bush2, and four years under Trump, But under a Democratic president they claim it’s a crisis.
Mr. Breen is correct. There has to be a compromise position between the lax Democratic Party attitude toward immigration and the immoral and cruel Republican Party attitude.
As a second generation American on both sides, I support legal immigration. Just showing up and hoping for the best isn’t really going to work out well.
Americas immigration policy is more about scoring political points than trying to fix the mess. Follow the money, who is paying for the photo opps and tee shirts.
Our population is getting older and we are not reproducing as fast as we’re dying off. We need able-bodied young people or we will turn into a decaying society.
If you love America, you will see the need for immigrants. And if you had a conscience, you’d know that many refugees are refugees because of something the US did in their home countries, whether in person or through surrogates.
I would like to just point out that to a GQP candidate or leader, “nuance” is spelled “wishy-washy” (at best). Conservatives want certainty and stability and simple answers … no matter whether the situation allows such things.

Seems to me that immigrants have walked hundreds of miles to get to the border have proven themselves to be hard working and goal oriented.

Too bad that real life problems are not easily solved or attributed to only two opposite choices…

First we need statesmen in Congress with sufficient Skill, Courage, and Will to create a working policy.
