Filibuster has traditionally been mostly of use to white supremacists who are trying to avoid allowing laws that help everybody… but that’s mostly been because rightwing types tend to agree on what’s important while the more liberal folks tend to go off in several (good) directions.
I’ve seen it argued that the filibuster is important because we don’t want to cram a new law down the throats of those who dislike it “by only one vote”. That’s utter BS: If the Senate (and Veep) vote 51 to 50 that’s half the votes … not just one.
McConnell could really rub the Democrats’ face in it if he humorously had the Senators on his side of the aisle wear bib coveralls with the “Can’t Bust ‘Em” logo prominently displayed. (—

The Founding Fathers intended the Senate to be a more “deliberate” body than the House but I’m sure they didn’t intend such a device as a filibuster. Governance is give and take, not “my way or the highway”, that’s the mentality of a little spoiled child.
Despite the filibuster rule, the base problem is that the Senators still insist upon purely partisan block voting no matter what the bill contains… that’s as close to unity as they intend to get…

All of this seems 100% in character with McConnell. Especially liked the title “Mitch & Filibuster’s.”

Lets keep it real. What the McConnell led Senate GOP have done the past 10 plus years isn’t a filibuster. It’s pure obstruction without consequences.

He doesn’t. He just believes that his Republican Party (or what’s left of it) must rule the country no matter what. Or why.

He just loves the money and power. The republic is just an inconvenience he is able to control.
