Did Scott worry about those little “debt slaves” during the debates and the passage of the last great tax cut?

Of course, the Republicans said NOTHING about the deficit or all the problems that the country needed when they pulled the big “Nothing too good for our rich folk” tax cut under Trump. THAT is actually much much bigger than any of this when you look at the longer term effects of the cut. But then they have a much bigger problem with logic and truth than the opposition politicians (no politician really uses much logic…)

Where were you when the Republicans passed the Tax Cut and Spend Scam at almost $3T, Scott? You lost the right to criticize bills that are meant to help the people instead of corporations and rich people when you kept your silence over the last 4 years.

Government spending is the culprit. Get that under control and the tax revenues can do their job. Outspend revenue and you get deficits. Congress is not looking out for our future.

As for the $1.9T porkfest, there should be nothing in that bill that doesn’t provide direct AND immediate relief to covid-impacted citizens, businesses and schools.

When the money goes to those who actually need it, it’s considered “wasteful spending by the Democrats”.

I guess the other stimulus, the one that was delayed so that The Messiah’s name could be printed on the checks, does not qualify as adding to the deficit.

And neither do the massive tax cuts for the already wealthy. Everyone knows tax cuts pay for themselves, right Stantis?

The usual fear mongering about the same thing always.

What is out of the cartoon’s frame is the bigger gaping maw of the debt.

I think they just make a bunch of comics on the same subject and haul out the appropriate bunch when circumstances change. This is a good example of a tired zombie argument about the debt.

If Biden gets the economy back on track, the deficit will be eased significantly with an increase in jobs and tax collection. The only difference will be that the 1% will not be collecting big tax cuts anytime soon.

Right on cue: The deficit ONLY matters to the rightwingers when the Democrats are in power.

Oh Scott, this isn’t the case and you know it.

We are the United States of America with nearly boundless resources. We have anazing wealth and power and are capable of mighty feats.

Have courage, Scott. We paid for the Moon Shot our parents bought. We paid for the interstate system our grandparents built. We will pay for the Stimulus which rebuild our nation.

This is an investment Scott. Not a waste. It will help pay for itself. What do you consider the cost is of not doing it?

We are the among the great nations of our world. We should be budgeting for projects for decades, even centuries in the future. Instead our greed and cowardice keeps us from writing a budget that lasts more than a few weeks or months at a time.

Well, lessee didn’t Clinton leave office with a zero deficit? and a surplus?Then Shrub2 got busy and sent everyone the “surplus” taxes they had paid. Hey I got $11 dollars. I learned Republican tax policy under Reagan. He said he would cut taxes.I took home $103 dollars every two weeks. So Ronny got busy and did his magic act. So now I took home $97 US every 2 weeks, my taxes increased $6 bucks.It all worked out. The economy went South, I got laid off and by golly I didn’t pay any taxes on the beer cans I picked up on the Interstate. It left me with a warm fuzzy feeling for Republican tax policy.

Tax the Rich. After all, “That’s where all the Money is.”

Deficit Gone. Problem solved.

And, as predicted by many MANY people, the deficit is magically an issue for conservatives, again.

I would vote for a flat tax. Say 20% of everything you earn. No loopholes, no shelters, no deductions. My whole adult working life my husband and I were penalized because we didn’t have children. Only way it will ever be fair.

Sooo Scotty, putting aside the Fat Cat beneficiaries of the last $1.9T package, would you prefer the slow genocide of caravans of unemployed hungry evicted and sick as they wander the land trying to survive? Or would that be OK as long as they are not in your backyard.

What happened to the response when your GOPQ did the last package? Wasn’t it something like, “this will cause the GDP to grow better than ever and it will pay for itself.”

Scott is only upset by government largess that makes it to people on the street. Cash for corporations and fat cats is fine. There’s zero danger that will reduce poverty, homelessness, or hunger.

Debt grew during every Republican administration and went down during every Democratic administration since WWII. Stats don’t lie.

We’d better raise taxes on the rich then. We should snap back to the Clinton era tax laws. The deficit was going down then.

Yawn. It’s a deficit only when there’s some real help for non-Millionaires.
