On a serious note, trying to corner someone into admitting they’re wrong is just about the best way to get them to dig in deeper. Better to plant the seeds of doubt and walk away; they’re far more likely to come around on their own time than yours.
I would think the hardest thing in the world was a diamond. Rocket science can’t be very hard when the Columbia Shuttle can be blown up by some foam insulation.
