Even though I don’t like Ted Cruz. I was surprised that he was so clueless as to do this. Even if he is that entitled, selfish and lacking in human empathy, he has still been a politician for a while and should know it was stupid from a purely political perspective. And then his being a good Dad excuse was so weak. Why not just drape himself in a flag and say he did for America?

You get what you vote for. Keep voting for dictator loving anti science republicans and you’ll be living in the dark full time.

A bunch of Texas good ole boys were out carousing Saturday night and headed home well loaded as dawn was breaking Sunday. Their pickup truck veered into the oncoming lane, hit a minivan head on, and killed a whole family headed for early church. When they arrived at their deserved destination, even the devil was incensed, directed them to the hottest corner of hell and turned up the thermostat all the way. When he came back to check on them, he found them still celebrating: “Why this is just like home.” I’ll show them, says old Nick, so he transferred them to the coldest spot in hell and turned the thermostat all the way down. Came back the next morning to check and found the Texans still celebrating. “What the hell is going on?” asked the devil. Replied a good ole boy: “Hell just froze over. That must mean Ted Cruz is president!”

Ted Crud: Why is everyone so upset? I’m working hard down here to improve Texas/Mexico relations. This trip was scheduled months ago.

Cruz understood he had nothing to contribute to solving the current crisis. He was trying to help by getting out of the way.

The Cruz family were without power and his daughters had friends staying with them in the one section of their house they were able to keep moderately warm. After three days without power his daughters asked him if they could relocate to someplace warmer as their schools were also closed. So, he made the arrangements, flew his girls and their friends down to Cancun, escorted them to their hotel and saw them safely settled in. The next morning he flew back home. At no time was he was out contact with his office. I doubt that anyone here, given Ted Cruz’s position and means, would have done anything different. The question is why Cruz felt he needed to escort his teenage daughters. Are you kidding? What father would not?

Duplicate of my reply to Rosie above:

It continues to amaze how Trump Disciples cannot understand the absolute contempt Trump has for them.

It shows up in this apology for naturalized citizen Raphael Cruz who ALSO holds people in contempt.

    .

Trump claims Cruz’ wife is ugly, AND that his father was involved in the assassination of president Kennedy. Cruz is such an incredible coward, that he becomes another Disciple to His Messiah.

And now, he blames his children for his decision to flee Texas. And LIES when he claims there’s nothing he could do for the people of Texas.

    .

Trump and His Disciples, including Cruz actually believe that the primary job of those in government is to manufacture slogans and soundbites and then suck up as much money as possible.

    .

And the ONE thing that Cruz DID do, was to write a letter in support of Abbott’s plea to be bailed out by the socialist communist federal government.

Within a week, they’ll pretend it never happened. They talk about the glories of deregulation. And nobody in Texas will have a bad thing to say about Ted (that they weren’t already saying). The entire GOP is counting on it.

On 1 February 2021, Texas State Rep Biedermann introduced a bill proposing Texas secession from the Union. Maybe that’s a good idea. Of course, we will have to pull out everything federal — the military presence, the space program, federal aid for social programs, education, and infrastructure. And, since it would be their desire to secede, they should bear the total expense of the transfer (including the wall along their border).

Sung to the tune of “Deep in the Heart of Texas” (full disclosure- I borrowed “fart of Texas” from cartoonist Kevin Necessary):

Ted Cruz ain’t bright, but always “Right” (clap, clap, clap, clap) He is the fart of Texas.

He said goodbye so he could fly (clap, clap, clap, clap) Creep went afar from Texas.

The big buffoon went to Cancun (clap, clap, clap, clap) He is the fart of Texas.

He just came back when press attacked (clap, clap, clap, clap) He isn’t smart for Texas!
