Now they can dump their kids off with the underpaid babysitters again.

Look, I get the humor intended in the cartoon. And I want to have back my freedoms, too. So can’t we wait to send children back to school in Fall? With several Covid variants emerging, does adding new human populations to the mix at this point make sense?

So much is not known for sure about the capabilities of this virus. And despite some encouraging news about availability of vaccines and treatments — is this the beginning of the end, or the end of the beginning?

The worshipers of Baal threw their infants into sacrificial flames. What do we worship that it is worth throwing our children into the viral furnace?

Mixed blessing. The kids need a classroom structure in order to learn, but they and the teachers really need to be kept safe as well. One snotty nose can do a lot of damage. It would be better to wait.

We love our kids, but not 24 hours a day. Teachers don’t get paid near enough.

    Breen,

The CDC didn’t close the schools, they can’t open them. Each state makes its own decision based, yes, on CDC guidance. But also on local conditions.

Nice to see they’re sending kids back. The lab rats and their families will be the litmus test of new variant spreads and how much longer it takes vaccines into the neighborhoods that already have needed them for too long. But, hey – it’s only kids. We can make more, right? I mean, lots of cities have been fine with steady or increasing numbers of lead poisoning for years so what’s a few more? Just as long as politicians & sports teams get their vaccines first.

The CDC says schools can open when they have the appropriate ventilation and Covid safety measures in place. Considering how many schools NEVER had sufficient supplies and books before the pandemic, I don’t understand how people think schools are ready to weather the pandemic.

At first, people seemed to be ready to finally respect teachers for the jobs that they do. But people went back to being unappreciative jerks.

From what I’m seeing, the younger kids (as depicted) are mostly REALLY ready to go back to face-to-face schooling.
