Rover has always been a world class winner since day one! That’s when Rover saved Red’s life by shoving him out of the way of a speeding truck! How do ya like dem apples?

Years ago the library had a brochure for a poetry contest I stupidly entered. Spent a lot of time editing, got it just right before sending it in. Weeks later we all got ours BACK with a letter “giving us a chance to edit and sent it BACK” .

Grr already spent a stamp and envelope on it and in the letter they they WANTED you to PURCHASE the book with all the entries and in it the winners would be announced. A SCAM.

Told librarian who said they just put out the brochures.

The last time I entered a contest, I was in high school. The A.O. Smith company had donated a mis-stamped artillery shell, which looked vaguely face-like. So, they sponsored a naming contest. I don’t remember what my entry was, but first prize went to “A. O.” – second prize went to “A. O. Smith”. That, in a nutshell, describes your standard corporate contest.
