I was out on rented skates in uptown Venice, CA when a stranger stopped me and showed me how to do a drag-stop. He said he had watched me stop by hitting a telephone pole. Even though he was late for an appointment, he took five minutes to be sure I had it right. He said he would never have forgiven himself, if he had later read in the paper that I had been injured. Nice guy.

Ice skating isn’t that hard to learn. I have the proverbial “2 left feet” & I caught on in no time. Only fell once.
