Next thing you know, the volcano at Jellystone Park erupts catastrophically.

One thing most people don’t realize is that if there was people that far back, they could have existed for millions of years and never left a trace. We know there weren’t people that far back based on the fossils we do find and how animals evolved but if we were wiped out today, archeologists of a different species that form 100 million years from now might not even find direct evidence of anything more closely related to us than a lemur is.

There are huge gaps in the fossil records (and I’m NOT trying to use that to say that evolution isn’t a “thing”) and there are some branches of dinosauria that have gaps lasting for millions of years. Archeologists 100m years from now might not even realize we ever even walked upright, much less that we used tools of ANY kind.
