Usually people like that are using their speaker phones in an office full of closely-seated people.

I was once married to a yell-talker. I dealt with it. Now I’m in prison for life. It’s worth it. Never marry a yell-talker unless you can learn to like steel bars and concrete rooms. I’m joking, of course. But it was fun to imagine. All I did was divorce her. She lives on. Somewhere. If you cup your hand by one ear you can hear her, no matter where on Earth you are.

My mother-in-law just does NOT have an inside voice. We constantly have to remind her we’re in the same room. Comes from her sitting in the living room and Dad sitting in the kitchen. They talk loudly because of that. I swear I’m getting them walkie-talkies some day!

You have it all wrong. There are people, like me, whose voices resonate. We don’t “yell”, there is no force or effort added to make our voices boom. It is insulting and annoying being constantly accused of yelling. When politely reminded, or when we are thinking of it we can speak softer, it is a bit of a strain (try constantly speaking lower than your normal level. My hearing is fine, when I was younger it was superb, which occasionally caused me to speak louder because I was competing with background noise.
