Let’s check Google Maps…yep, still burning, and with all those coronavirus cases there, no one’s starting up again.

Nope. The “rain forest” is now known as the “rain desert”.

Why, no. Bolsonaro sees neither prestige nor profit in this.

No – and tRump slammed through all kinds of anti-environmental policies here in the USA while everyone was sleeping or otherwise being stupid.

I’ve been hearing for decades how they lose an area the size of Connecticut every day. That must be one hell of a forest.

the Amazon is losing more rainforest this past year than it has per year ever…Madagascar as lost almost 90% of it’s rainforest and everywhere else they’re burning like mad…humans are destroying everything and the news isn’t even touching it. You have to go to BBC America or Nat Geo to see what’s happening and it’s tragic beyond words. Oz burned last year, an estimated billion animals perished…the Amazon fires are still burning and no one even has a guesstimate…since over a billion living thing can apparently live an an acre of healthy rainforest the losses have to be beyond trillions. Shame on all of us.

That reminds me, whatever happened to that hole in the ozone? Used to have me scared to death as a kid in the 80’s when they started talking about it. I thought we were all going to burn up instantly. I was too scared to ask the teacher where exactly this hole was so I could avoid standing under it. Instead, I just lived in fear every time I went outside on a sunny day. :D

Update to say: I’m not the only one asking about this (https://www.discovermagazine.com/environment/whatever-happened-to-the-hole-in-the-ozone-layer) <—— answer in that article.
