I tried to hide mine under the bread. That didn’t work either.

I don’t recall my mother ever trying to give me liver.

LOL, Luann got busted by Brad. Liver and onions were one thing I could not stand as a kid and only ran into it at the school cafeteria from time to time (those lunch ladies were sadists!), fortunately Mom did not cook it though she liked it and always got it at Morrisons or Piccadilly cafeteria which used to have really good food back in the day. The other thing that made me want to hurl was Brussel sprouts; yuck.

So, Luann was willing to and able to taste it without reacting, but unwilling to swallow it?

When I was a kid, my three younger brothers and I got tired of bolgna sandwiches for lunch at home all summer long. We took to wrapping them in napkins and stuffing them behind the refrigerator, when Mom wasn’t looking. Don’t know how she finally found out. :)

Later I realized how lucky we were to have lunch every day.

As a child I would return from grade school with my sibs. We would walk into the house to smell of cooking liver. My sisters & I prayed to find a circus to run away & join…..my father loved it….sign

My parents never served us liver because they both hated it growing up.

I guess I was lucky. Both my parents hated liver so I never even had to try it.

Liver was one of those things that my parents didn’t like (lamb was another), so we never had it when I was growing up. Once I finally had these as a late teen or young adult, I realized that I really liked them both (I’m especially fond of liver & onions). I have since figured that my parents probably had to eat these as kids (cheap food maybe for the Depression era?), so grew to hate them.

Still, liver casserole? That seems pretty strange to me.

I always loved liver. Cook up some bacon, and then in the bacon grease fry a chopped onion, and then in the onion-y bacon grease fry the liver. YUM.

We had liver and onions when I was a kid, mainly because my Dad liked it. I like chicken livers myself. But a casserole of any kind of liver sounds gross.

I was the weird kid in the family. I relished liver and onions, kidney pie, and sheep’s brains. For some reason, hated gravy, any kind. Now I love gravy; but my desire for kidney pie and sheep’s brains, has lessened. Still eat fried liver with onions and mushrooms. Sometimes, with fried corn mush.
