Puppies do have endless energy, but every day with you, puppy or not endless energy or not, is a gift and blessing. Just ask the Dears. They’ll tell you.

Well Fred you might not have the energy of a puppy but you still find a way to get into trouble :-)

Fred’s still got a lot of youthful energy but he’s no longer a puppy. He’s also picked up some war wounds as we saw in the strip published two weeks ago today. Happily, his wounds haven’t slowed him down much and he is still very adventurous.

Mention of basset puppies reminds me of the night I had a couple friends, Darren and Larry, over for a game and we heard scratching at the front door. Darren was closest, looked out, and said, “It’s a dog.”

“Is it a little basset?” I asked, and when I looked, sure enough, it was Heidi, our neighbors’ escape-prone pup. “It’s OK – I know where she lives.”

“That’s more than the dog knows,” said Larry.
