The state of conscience. We can be united in all sorts of ways, but without a moral compass, what’s the point?

If you’re talking about the state of the union, try black and blue, and red may be yet to come.

Apparently not. Like my dad said, the more coins the people get in their pockets, the more republican they become. Its every (white) man for himself, and to hell with those pore folk.

The parties need to be renamed “Liberal” and “Conservative” because neither truly embrace the ideals of “Democratic” or “Republic”. Think about it. Majority of politicians these days don’t truly represent their constituency out of duty and commitment.

All intelligent, educated, experienced voters become blue and see red at the hypocrisy of racist whites who ignore their lip-service Christian principles to vote their pocketbooks at the expense of fellow creatures of God—and, in the process, abandon the sheep to join the goats (Matthew 25:31-46).

It seems like many have forgotten the days of wine and roses for the vast majority of our citizens — those years when the wealthy actually paid taxes, and invested in businesses that created jobs where unions promoted and protected the interests of the workers who helped companies make a profit that benefited both owners and workers. We have forgotten when tax policies started making investors rich by dismantling profitable companies and shipping those jobs to foreign workers, and when workers were told the unions were bad for them and they needed “right to work” laws in their states so they wouldn’t have to pay union dues. The right to work laws resulted in workers being able to work for less wages, no on the job protections, and fewer industrial jobs. Yes, we did it to ourselves because we believed in the politicians who sold the right to work snake oil. We see the result of those grievances today. For the past 30 years those snake oil salesmen have sold us on the idea of cutting taxes on the rich and corporations. We have allowed corporations to shift their burdens onto the taxpayers in the form of the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation. Yes, corporations have shifted their obligations onto the taxpayers in a form of corporate socialism, if you will. Why do we continue to vote for those politicians who have caused us so much harm and grief? Because they tell us it is someone else’s fault. And we buy it. All those grievances of those red-hatted voters are the result of the politicians they are voting for. What an excellent con.
